Workshop Program

Throughout the program there will be weekly workshops which will provide skills development, support, and maintain the relationships and peer groups formed during the camp. The purpose is to create an ongoing social group for young people where they can socialise and develop skills in an environment where youth workers and mentors can help shape future aspirations.

Mental Health and Wellbeing

We understand that navigating mental health can be challenging, and we strive to provide a safe and supportive space to discuss these important issues. Our workshop covers a range of topics, including understanding mental health, identifying common mental health challenges, and exploring healthy coping mechanisms. Through interactive activities and open discussions, we aim to empower our participants with the tools and knowledge to prioritise their mental health and wellbeing.

Resilience

Our program is designed to equip young people with the necessary tools and skills to navigate life's challenges and build resilience. Through interactive group activities, discussions, and practical exercises, participants learn how to identify and manage stress, build positive relationships, cultivate a growth mindset, and develop a sense of purpose. We believe that by empowering African teenagers with resilience, we can help them overcome obstacles and achieve their full potential.

Goal-Setting

This workshop is intended to help young people set achievable goals and develop a plan to turn their dreams into reality. Through interactive group activities, discussions, and practical exercises, participants learn how to identify their passions, strengths, and values. They also learn how to set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals, and create a step-by-step action plan to achieve them. Our aim is to strengthen young people with goal-setting skills, which can help them build a future that aligns with their aspirations.

Culture

Our program is intended to educate, empower and connect young people to their cultural heritage, identity, and traditions, acknowledging the complexities of negotiating multiple cultures. Our workshop is an immersive experience that is tailored to explore various aspects of African culture, including art, music, dance, language, history, and customs. Through interactive group activities, discussions, and practical exercises, participants will gain valuable insights into their heritage and learn how to appreciate, connect with and celebrate their cultural diversity.

Healthy and safe relationships

This workshop is aimed at helping young people build healthy relationships and empower them to recognize and address issues of abuse or violence. Our program is crafted to be an engaging and interactive experience where participants can learn the skills and tools necessary to build healthy relationships, set boundaries, and communicate effectively. Participants engage in various activities, have discussions, and participate in practical exercises that help them gain an understanding of different types of relationships. They also learn how to recognise the signs of abuse or violence and develop skills to respond to such situations.

Identity

The aim of our program is to assist African teenagers in exploring and embracing their unique identities. Our workshop provides an engaging and interactive experience that allows participants to explore different aspects of their identity, such as race, gender, sexuality, and cultural background. With the aid of group activities, discussions, and practical exercises, participants will learn to embrace their individuality and appreciate diversity. Our program is tailored to empower African teenagers to foster a positive self-image and a sense of belonging to their community.
